Turning My Struggles Into Songs
Hi!
My name is Siena, and I have multiple chronic illnesses, including some headache disorders. I love writing goofy song parodies to popular songs about chronic illness, so I wrote one to Rise by Katy Perry called Ice, and it is about headaches.

Song Parody:
"Ice"
I won't just lie down
Oh, you will see me ice
Can’t write my homework
I’m too tired for that
I won’t just take pills
Even if I do scream my lungs out
‘Cause my brain, it will scream, oh
Oh, body of so little function
Please stop this, please stop this
Maxalt is in my veins
I feel it, I feel it
And I will not stand up
I’ll lie down, I’ll lie down
I will sleep
When, when the drugs are out of my blood
And I’m waiting on my next dose
They’re hiding from me and my brain
But still I ice
This is no good luck, no dream of mine
When I thought I had a handle on this
Think again
Don’t be surprised
I will still ice
I must stay conscious
Through pain and near syncope
So I call on the meds
I say
Oh, body of so little function
Please stop this, please stop this
Maxalt is in my veins
I feel it, I feel it
And I will not stand up
I’ll lie down, I’ll lie down
I will sleep
When, when the drugs are out of my blood
And I’m waiting on my next dose
They’re hiding from me and my brain
But still I ice
This is no good luck, no dream of mine
When I thought I had a handle on this
Think again
Don’t be surprised
I will still ice
Don't doubt it, don't doubt it
Oh, oh, oh, oh
You know it, you know it
Still ice
Just keep it, just keep it
Don’t be surprised,
I will still ice
